You get the feeling that this restaurant might be good judging by the line-up of people waiting for a table. We went on warm weekend evening so did have to wait to get a spot on the patio, but it was worth it. The service was excellent despite the restaurant being so busy. The food was amazing and the value was unexpected - Order a one-piece dinner and you get 2 pieces of fish, order 2 pieces and you get 3, etc. Don't let the line-up deter you, this place is great. So a bunch of us finally headed down to the Blue Canoe for dinner. A few had been there before, and a few hadn't, but we always go and critique places together. Absolutely loved the atmosphere, not a detail was spared in the design of the restaurant. The real tester is of course the food, and it did not disappoint. They've thrown together some amazing flavours and clearly taken some chances that have worked out in their favour. The Drummettes....I don't eat chicken wings anywhere, but these ones were in a soy sauce of some sort that was fantastic!! The BBQ Salmon was probably the best salmon that I've ever had at a restaurant....not overcooked like most places. So much flavour. That was it for me, but others had a wide variety of food and rave reviews on all counts. A few questions on the sides that they came with, but generous portions and smiles all around. This is the only place to go in Vancouver area for real Fish and Chips. Chips are golden brown and crispy! Halibut is like a chicken breast; covered in homemade batter that is nicely done. I find their Malt Vinegar to be a great flavour; some other Fish and Chips outlets serve a cider vinegar which in my estimation just does not 'cut it':. service has always been great; quick and friendly. located in downtown Steveston! I liked the décor, the friendly staff & owners.I ordered the Salmon & Chips (fish & chips made with Salmon instead of Cod or Halibut, which they also had). The Salmon was Wild, & delicious. They have specials & Seniors day, which is nice. This was my second time here. The 1st time I took out of town guests from Okanagan who used to live on West Coast of Vancouver Island. We decided fish and chips was a good choice after eating turkey. We went into the shop and ordered our dinner, and were we happy. Even after taking the food home it was still hot, and so delicious. The fish was the best tasting I had in a long time, the batter is just perfect and does not overpower the fish. The coleslaw is awesome!! I am going back again. Lire plus
